145th NCB constructs Bailey Bridge 145th NCB

One of the fastest but most important jobs by the 145th NCB was the construction of this 150 foot double-double

Bailey Bridge across the Bishi-Gawa River on Route 1at Hiza in April 1945. It carried heavy supply traffic south to the front lines during the Okinawa Campaign.

A crew of 80 Seabees completed the bridge in two (2) days while working under enemy air raid attacks.
